Treatments
IUI Treatment
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a simple procedure that lasts only a few minutes.During this form of fertility treatment, sperm that have been washed and concentrated have placed in the uterus around the time of ovulation so as to achieve fertilisation. The goal of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of fertilization. Depending on the reasons for infertility, IUI can be coordinated with the woman’s menstrual cycle or she may be administered fertility drugs.
IVF Treatment
IVF (in vitro fertilisation) is an assisted reproduction technique in which fertilization takes place in the laboratory. IVF includes a variety of procedures (e.g. conventional IVF, ICSI, etc.) and is applied to sub fertile couples where simpler assisted reproduction technologies (ARTs) were either unsuitable or failed. IVF is often a stressful experience for the couple. This stress may be minimized by fully understanding each step of the procedure and by taking advantage of the support offered by our Specialized Team.Fertility Preservation
The program includes the cryopreservation of oocytes, embryos and sperm. This technique is applied in cases of serious illness, such as cancer, where treatment (e.g. chemotherapy, surgery, etc.) may compromise the oocytes or the spermatozoa.Additionally, some women (and men as well) choose to preserve their fertility for social reasons. It is also possible for men to preserve their fertility, particularly when they are to undergo treatment for cancer that may compromise it. Greek Law covers all of the above procedures.
Egg Donation
Egg donation is the most effective treatment in the following cases:▪ Failure to produce eggs (e.g. premature menopause)
▪ Poor ovarian response to ovarian stimulation with drugs
▪ Repeated IVF failures
Experience and the results to date deem this method an excellent treatment option for some couples. Greek Law (Ν 3305/2005) dictates the rules and procedures of egg donation.
Sperm Donation
IUI or IVF may be carried out using donor sperm. Donor sperm is used when:▪ the male partner’s semen sample contains no spermatozoa (also known as azoospermia)
▪ he is ill or is a carrier of a serious genetic or infectious disease, etc.
EmbryoClinic collaborates with certified sperm banks abroad, which meet strict criteria regarding the safety and effectiveness of their genetic material.
